When the December 2019 General Election was announced, Warwickshire Pride’s board of trustees thought it would be helpful to engage with each parliamentary candidate in Warwickshire to find out their views on LGBT+ rights and what they would do to support Warwickshire’s LGBT+ community, should they be elected.
Each candidate was sent three questions by email on 14th November 2019, with a response deadline of 30th November to give time for this report to be written and the for community to have an opportunity to read the results.
The three questions asked were:
1. Do you support LGBT+ rights?
2. What will you actively do to support LGBT+ constituents?
3. What will you do to combat the rise in hate crimes against LGBT+ people?
This report details the responses that were received from candidates, plus who did not respond. It also details candidates whose contact details we were unable to find, who therefore did not receive the questions from Warwickshire Pride.
Warwickshire Pride has no political affiliation. This has been purely an engagement exercise to ensure that Warwickshire’s LGBT+ community is aware of their local candidate’s stance on LGBT+ rights and the support they would provide to their LGBT+ constituents. The responses contained in this report have not been edited in any way. They are copied and pasted directly from the responses.
